Try-Squares, Mitre Squares, and Combination Squares |
||
|
Collecting try-squares for me started when my father (D. Muster) gave
me three squares shown to the left. This includes his Stanley #20 square of late 1950's
vintage, my grand-fathers ( E. Muster ) Disston No. 1 square of 1920's vintage, and my
great-grand-fathers (A. Muster) square of 1850's vintage. Each of these squares has an
owner mark as given herein.
Over time I have collected a large number of various types of squares. This includes Stanley squares such as the #2,#10,#12,#15,#16, and #20. In addition I have collected some early English ebony handled try-squares and mitre squares and early American rosewood handle try-squares. The collection of try-squares, minus all the unmarked one's with diamonds brass inlays, as of November 1999 is given to the left. |
